The Voice of the Hospitality Industry in Northern Ireland

For over three decades, Hospitality Review magazine (formerly Catering & Licensing Review) has been the definitive business-to-business guide to the issues, news and views of the licensed, catering, hospitality and tourism sectors within Northern Ireland.

The magazine reaches right to the heart of the trade in Northern Ireland and has enjoyed a long association with industry representative bodies, advertisers and, of course, readers throughout every sub-sector of the catering, licensed, hospitality and tourism trades. From humble beginnings as the magazine for the local caterers' association, Hospitality Review's straightforward approach to covering the events and issues the trade is interested in has paid off and, over the years, more and more industry organisations have come to rely upon Hospitality Review as the voice to communicate regularly the matters that matter most to them.

Today, Hospitality Review is proud to be the official magazine for the Federation of the Retail Licensed Trade in Northern Ireland (FRLT), the Northern Ireland Hotels Federation (NIHF) and the Northern Ireland Association of Chefs and Cooks (NIACC).

What does this mean?
As the official publication of the FRLT, NIACC and NIHF, Hospitality Review is clearly regarded by the industry itself as the both its voice on matters of importance and as the leading provider of an authoritative, comprehensive and quality insight into all aspects of the industry. With a strong focus on consistency, reliability, cost-effectiveness and quality, Hospitality Review is also widely respected by advertisers as the key communication tool to reach the trade in Northern Ireland. In short, Hospitality Review is the voice of the Northern Ireland catering, licensing and tourism industry.

Timeline
'The Review' as it is affectionately known in the trade, began life as the magazine for the Ulster Caterers Association and, by 1977 was known as Ulster Catering Review. The magazine title was bought by the current publishers, Greer Publications, in 1992, by which time the name had been changed to accommodate the licensed vintners of Northern Ireland, to become Catering & Licensing Review. In 2007, once again to reflect the broadening of the scope of the magazine and the growing importance to both caterers and licensed premises of the overall hospitality and tourism offering, Greer Publications rebranded the title as Hospitality Review - a simple change that both kept the constant 'Review' and simultaneously expresses clearly and succinctly the breadth of coverage and the audience.

Q & A

What's in it?
First and foremost, Hospitality Review is a trade magazine for Northern Ireland so, while we also cover issues and items pertaining to all-Ireland (and particularly the border counties) and Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales), priority is given to local news, events, issues and features.

Editorially, Hospitality Review combines 'short-and-sweet' informative or entertaining items with profiles of people and places in the business locally and more in-depth information and analysis of the business issues that impact upon the trade. Regular content covers the drinks trade, hotels and tourism, wine, food service and business issues.

The advertising features list attempts to give advertisers an equally strong platform to communicate editorially on the issues that matter, from products and how to use/serve them, to technology for the industry and invites marketing communication and expert advice articles.

Who reads it?
Hospitality Review is mailed to managing directors, operations directors, general managers, human resource managers, marketing managers, head/executive chefs, chef/proprietors, chefs, business proprietors, department heads etc in pubs, clubs, hotels, restaurants, coffee shops, fast food outlets, guesthouses, B&B's, visitor attractions, other industry organisations, relevant public bodies and Government departments, schools and colleges, also to all members of the Federation of the Retail Licensed Trade, of the Northern Ireland Association of Chefs and Cooks and of the Northern Ireland Hotels Federation.

It's as simple as ABC
Hospitality Review is a business-to-business or trade publication audited by the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC). You will see the ABC logo on all the best publications the world over and it means that Hospitality Review's circulation is independently and rigorously monitored - our circulation figures are published, in detail, by the ABC and you can be absolutely certain that those figures are both truthful and accurate in terms of reaching the correct business audience. It is only relevant recipients of the magazine that are included in the audit figures, so every single magazine included in our audit is reaching the right target audience.
